Arrived in Venice on Friday and the cruise left on Sunday. had a couple of days to explore Venice

We had been walling down a back street and found this nice Italian grandma making home made pasta shells.. she did it without looking .. suspect she had done it her entire life...

Santorini.. a beautiful island created from a extinct volcano that erupted in 1600 BC.. about 1500 years before Pompeii.. It put 40 ft of pumice on top of the island.
Ancient village (Akrotiri) buried by the volcanic eruption in 1600 BC... no bodies found indicating that the residents had advanced warnings and time to flee.
Did not realize that much of Greece is very arid. Below are a unique grape bush that survives on morning dews for moisture.
